The AI Reality Check (Practical AI Part 1)

AI is a tool like Excel that changes HOW you work, not WHAT you do—stop theorizing and start using it now.

Stop Theorizing, Start Building: The AI Reality Check

Listen, I'm going to blow your mind a little bit here, but not in the way you think.

Remember when Excel came around? When spreadsheets first showed up? They didn't change WHAT finance people did; they changed HOW they did it. Made them more powerful, more impactful, faster. Nobody sat around theorizing about whether spreadsheets were going to take over the world. They just started using them and got better at their jobs.

AI is exactly the same thing. It's not some mystical force that's coming to replace you. It's a tool. A really powerful tool that makes you better at what you already do.

The Real Problem: We're Stuck in Theory

Here's what's actually happening out there. People are sitting in meetings talking about what AI COULD do. What it MIGHT do. How it WILL change everything. They're nervous about sharing information with it. Worried about where the data goes. Anxious about getting it wrong.

Meanwhile, they're not actually USING it.

I'm not here to teach you prompts. I'm not going to give you a list of 47 ways to write the perfect query. There are a million prompt libraries out there already, and you probably have your own collection gathering digital dust.

What I'm going to do is change how you THINK about using AI in everything you do.

The Doom Scenario Exercise

Let's do something uncomfortable for a second. Assume the worst possible scenario is true. Assume that in 10 years, AI has done everything the prophets of doom say it's going to do. The trajectory can't be stopped. It's out there, it's loose, it's doing its thing.

Given that scenario is going to happen (whether it's 5, 10, or 20 years from now) what are you going to do with the time you have?

Because here's the thing: sitting in your chair feeling sorry about what's coming is not an answer.

I don't actually believe the doom scenario. But even if I did, my response would be the same: figure out how to maximize AI to make your life and everyone else's life easier. Make yourself more productive. Make your team more productive. Think differently.

Breaking Away from What Ifs

We need to move from theory to practice. From "what I could do" to "what I'm actually doing right now."

The technology is commercially available today. On the shelf. Ready to use. No coding required. No advanced degrees needed. No agentic AI setup necessary.

Just practical application.

When you start thinking about AI this way (as a tool that extends your capabilities rather than something that threatens your existence) everything changes. You stop being nervous about it and start being curious about it.

Your Job Won't Disappear, But You Might Become Less Relevant

Here's the hard truth: AI isn't going to cause people to lose their jobs. People who refuse to embrace AI are going to be less relevant and less commercially viable than people who do embrace it.

Think about that for a second.

The person sitting next to you who figures out how to use AI to be 10x more productive? They're not trying to replace you. They're just going to be dramatically more valuable than someone who's still doing everything the old way.

Everything I'm going to show you is about making YOU more powerful. More impactful. More efficient. More valuable.

Not because AI is magic. But because when you combine human creativity, critical thinking, and judgment with AI's processing power and knowledge base, you become something neither could be alone.

The First Step: Change Your Mindset

Before we dive into tools, techniques, and workflows, you need to make one fundamental shift:

  • Stop asking "Should I use AI for this?"

  • Start asking "How can AI help me do this better?"

  • That's it. That's the whole mindset shift right there.

  • Because the answer to the second question is almost always: "In more ways than you currently imagine."

In the next piece, I'm going to show you something most people get completely wrong about AI—something that's causing them to get biased, filtered, philosophically skewed results without even realizing it.

And yes, I'm going to show you exactly how to fix it.
